1979 - 2021

A Homegoing Celebration Remembering the Life of Brian L. Protho, 42, of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 1p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home Chapel. A wake was held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. Brian L. Protho was born on February 21, 1979 to parents of Cynthia Protho and Crushon Houston at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Brian was raised on the westside of Chicago where he was accompanied by loving family and friends. Brian was introduced to Christ at Mt. Clearstone Church in Chicago. He attended high school at John Marshall High School in Chicago. During and after high school, Brian began worked at Walgreen's and Jewel's Grand Bazaar. In Brian's alone time, he enjoyed drawing intense still-life artwork, exercising, and an avid action figure collector. Brian loved music and some of his favorite artist included was DMX, Top Authority, and Scarface. In the year of 2006 Brian decided to move to Ashland, Alabama to accompany his loving grandmothers Lena and Arlene Protho, as well as his mother Cynthia. While living in Ashland, Alabama Brian encountered a haul of friends throughout Clay County. His everyday plans consisted of helping those around him. Unexpectantly, late Wednesday afternoon, April 28, 2021, Brian peacefully transitioned to the next life. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Keshia Protho. Brian leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Bakaria Tolefree; his four sons, Anthony Protho, Vontae Protho, Darnell Protho, and Bryan Protho; his parents, Cynthia (Raymond) Protho and Crushon Houston.; two sisters, TaQuana Williams-Parker and Berrytane Ramsey; three brothers, Joseph Nieves, Corey Protho, and Crushon Ramsey; one aunt, Dontrice Jackson; one uncle, Edward Protho; and a host of great aunts, great- uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
