We played together as tiny children; we went to school together for twelve years; we went square dancing together. What fun we had during all those years! I'll miss you forever, my dearest cousin. Love you, Paul. Jeannie

Paul was my first cousin. We grew up together and were close enough in age to be in the same class all through grade school and high school. He is the first playmate I can remember. We spent a lot of time playing with his two younger siblings, Joy and Bill, and my younger sister, Pat. Paul was the bravest boy I ever knew, climbing up and walking across the beams that spanned the ceiling high up in the barn. Sometimes we would lie in the bins full of grain to escape the heat of summer.
Paul had a beautiful singing voice, a deep bass. I was so surprised when I saw him after a longer than usual separation, and heard how his speaking voice had deepened! He sang in the high school choir and the special Ensemble singers.
Paul and Betty were made for each other. I know how much he yearned for a family, and here came Betty with a perfect one for him. Besides his time spent outdoors, Paul enjoyed cooking and especially baking. He baked hundreds of loaves of fresh bread!
The last time I saw Paul was when he and Betty were working in Nauvoo, Il. in support of the LDS church. We had a wonderful visit. It was so good to see Paul again and to meet Betty. I will always miss Paul.
