Frank E. Wehr

Frank E. Wehr of West Chester Frank E. Wehr, 86, formerly of Summit Hill, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, August 4, 2014. He was the devoted husband of Rose Ann Turrano Wehr and the beloved father of daughter Ruthann Waldie and son Frank A. Wehr. For 16 years, Frank served as Clerk of Courts for Carbon County and was chairman of the Carbon County Democratic Committee. From 1971 to 1981, he was the administrator of the Coaldale State Hospital. He also served as the administrator of the Carbon County Nursing Home and Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bethlehem. Frank was a Korean War Combat veteran serving proudly in the Army. An accomplished vocalist, Frank sang at more than 2000 weddings. He was the lead vocalist of the Coaldale Victory Band and the Big Band Ambassadors. He was the director of the choir at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Summit Hill. Most recently, he sang with the West Chester Area Community Chorus at last Saturday's Phillies game. Frank and his wife moved to West Chester in 1999, where he served as a tip staff in the Chester County Courthouse in West Chester. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by a son-in-law George Waldie and daughter-in-law Beverly Wehr. Also survived by grandchildren, Samantha married to Mike Brown, George III, married to Briana Egan; Frank E., Amanda and Alexis Wehr, and one great-grandchild, Sienna Rose Brown. Frank has several brothers, James of The Villages, Florida, Tom of Orwigsburg and Robert of Macungie. His sister Evelyn resides in Palmerton. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Leighton and Ruth Hawk Wehr, and brothers, Russell, John and Donald Wehr. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Calvary Lutheran Church 730 S. New St. West Chester, PA 19382. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester. Visitation will be held at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014.
