Larry Thomas “Tommy” Riles, age 76, resident of Somerville, Tennessee, departed this life Monday, April 7, 2025 at his residence.
Tommy was born October 31, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Seldon Elsie (S.E.) Riles and Mary Armour Riles. He graduated from Fayette County High School in Somerville in 1967 and served his country as a Miliary Police in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Tommy worked in the asphalt industry for 40 years and retired as a supervisor for Lehman-Roberts after 36 years.
Tommy was a Christian who loved farming and enjoyed raising cattle and hay, mowing the grass, boating on the Hatchie River and riding his John Deere gator. He was a perfectionist and everything was well-maintained and organized.
Mr. Riles is survived by his daughter, Allison Riles Farley (Rick) of Bolivar, TN; his son, Jarod Riles of Williston, TN; three sisters, Pat Middleton (Larry) of Somerville, TN, Peggy Riles of Somerville, TN and Georgia Freels (Glenn) of Somerville, TN; and his brother, Sheriff Bobby Riles (Doris) of Somerville, TN.
Funeral Services for Mr. Riles were held at 3 P.M. Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, Tennessee, officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in Somerville City Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Dave Rhea, Chad Rhea, Bryan Middleton, Jacob McConnell, Preston Bryson and Brandon Riles. Honorary pallbearers were Glenn Freels, Tim Freels, Mickey Graham, Eddie Tibbs, Eric Cook and Bill Walker.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse Fayette County, 101 Kay Drive, Somerville, TN 38068.
