Sherry Perry Obituary

Sherry Jo Swinson Perry, 66, of Memphis, Tennessee reunited with God and transitioned to her eternal Heaven on May 25, 2022.

The smile that was always on her face brought loving kindness to the young children of her Sunday School class at Harvest Church, elementary students she tutored at Orange Mound Outreach Ministries, and her fellow season ticket holders to the many football and basketball games at which she loudly cheered her favorite teams (especially her alma mater University of Memphis).

Sherry was born November 27, 1955, to Darrell and Dean Swinson in San Francisco, California. After the family moved to Memphis, Sherry had her first date with her husband, John Perry, to their Senior Prom at Whitehaven High School. Sherry graduated summa cum laude in 1977 from University of Memphis, then married John as she began her early career as a CPA. At the age of 27-years-old, she become the first female partner at Watkins Uiberall (formerly Uiberall, Leib, Blockman, Perry) and continued to serve clients during her forty-year career.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 45 years, John, as well as their daughters Diane Dean Perry (Germantown, TN) and Ashley Elizabeth Perry (Atlanta, Georgia). She is also survived by those by whom she was known as "Tia": Connor and Ava Jones as well as Dean Palumbo. She leaves her sister, Pansy Kay Swinson of Memphis, TN, as well as her stepsisters Lynn Duscha, Lorie Ellis, and Lisa Melton. She is survived by nieces and nephews Richard (Karen) Palumbo, Alissa (Brian) Edmiston Foster, Richard (Kristen) Edmiston, Ben (Brittany) Punch, Michael (Amanda) Punch, Paige Perry, Jeffry Perry, and many great nieces and nephews. Sherry is also survived by her mother-in-law Mary Perry of Humboldt, TN.

Sherry is now at peace with her Heavenly Father, joining her parents Bill and Dean Miesen, Darrell Swinson, and her niece Heather Palumbo-Jones.

Visitation will take place at Memorial Park at 5668 Poplar Avenue on Thursday, June 2nd from 4:30p to 6:30p. The celebration of Sherry Perry's life will be on Friday, June 3rd at Harvest Church at 3645 Forest Hill Irene on Friday, June 3rd at 11:00a with lunch to follow.

The family asks that those who love Sherry honor her incredibly generous charitable heart with donations to Orange Mound Outreach Ministries (https://www.omomcares.org/) or the Center for Good Grief (https://baptistgriefcenters.org/center/collierville-tn/) in lieu of sending flowers or food.

So sad to hear the news. We will miss her terribly. She was such a nice lady. Truly a gift from God while she was on this earth.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was shocked to learn of Sherry's passing. She was a trust adviser and inspiration for her work in the community. May her memory be a blessing.

Please know that you are in our prayers during this sad time. The few times we met Sherry, we so enjoyed being around her. Just a very easy person to know and talk to.
