Timothy Sere Obituary
Timothy M. Sere, 44, of Arlington, TN, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 24th after injuries sustained while rushing into a burning pet store to save a litter of purring kittens from certain doom.
He also had complications from stupid Covid. He was cared for and was given precious time by the amazing team at Baptist East and was surrounded by loved ones during his last days. He remains present in spirit with his loving wife, Jennifer, and his four children, Michael Luke, Penelope Joyann, Eleanor Ruth(Biscuit), and Scarlett Monroe.
Tim was born on December 8th, 1977 in Memphis, TN. Before the age of 17, he spent most of his time fighting off adoring young ladies with sticks. When not busy with romantic activities, he devoted himself to his Jedi training and eventually earned the rank of "Almost Not A Nerd". Ultimately, he found his passion for comic books and accepted his "Nerd" persona more completely. His passion for reading paired well with his love for the lore of his favorite Marvel Superheroes. He was drawn to learn the ways of Captain America himself. At Bartlett High School, his reputation was well known. As evidence, he was even given the honor of being named "most likely to succeed" and also "most likely to serve hard time" (probably not but you can't prove it).
As a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, Tim impacted the lives of so many others and developed friendships that he carried throughout.
Surprisingly, Tim never had a sip of alcohol in his life. However, his personality was so large, he never needed it. People were drawn to him by his genuine smile and his mischievous laugh.
Tim attended the University of Memphis and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. After graduation, he taught briefly at Brighton Middle School and coached football. He began to find his passion for teaching children at Youth Villages and he later completed his requirements in the teacher certification program where he was highly qualified in Special Education. His last assignment was at Shelby County Schools as an EasyIEP Specialist where he was lovingly named, 'EasyIEP Tim'. His gift to this world was the laughter and joy he brought to others. Tim was one of the lucky ones who had the opportunity to do what they love while also providing for his family.
He truly valued the relationships he built with all the people he encountered professionally. For him, it was personal.
All of that said, Tim was most outstanding as a family man. His wife, Jennifer, was the light of his life! She made the first move and invited him on a camping trip with friends. Thankfully, he had an amazing personality because he might have overstated his manly capabilities a bit. By the time Jennifer found out that Tim couldn't bait his own hook, she was already in love. They were married on July 2nd, 2005 and spent the next 17 years building an incredible family together. After Jennifer spent about 8 years raising Tim, they both decided to start having actual children and boy did they get to it.
Michael, Penny, Ellie, and Scarlett had the most wonderful relationship with their father and they will shine his light to the world. Tim was a Girl Scout dad, and Boy Scout dad, a Soccer dad, a softball dad, a baseball dad, and a dance dad.
He is also leaving a huge hole in the hearts of those he left behind. This includes his father Michael(Julie) Sere, his mother Debbie(Rick) Williams and sisters Christy(Tim) Gibson, Kaitlyn Whitehead, Autumn and Aerin Swafford. His inlaws(loves) include David(Lisa) Montgomery and many brother-in loves, sister-in loves, nephews and one niece. He will also be dearly missed by his friends of Bartlett High School Class of '96, the Fraternity of Lambda Chi Alpha, colleagues of Brighton Schools, Youth Villages, and Shelby County Schools and many more.
Tim's visitation will be held Monday, January 31st at 12:00 at Hope Church on Walnut Grove. The celebration of life will be at 1:00pm with a graveside service immediately following at Memorial Gardens on Germantown Pkwy. Details of reception to follow.
We would love all friends and family to join us, but we also understand that we are still in the middle of a pandemic. Come at your own comfort.
If you knew Tim, you would know that he didn't like to dress up so please dress comfortably. You can even join in with us and wear a Superhero shirt! He preferred Marvel over DC.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sere Kids' College Fund at Orion Credit Union. Just mention Jennifer or Tim's name.
Arrangements under the direction of Brent Taylor Paul McCarver Funeral Directions.
