Charles Capps Obituary

Charles H. "Chuck" Capps, 89, of Yorktown passed Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Charter Senior Living in Newport News, Virginia. He was a native of Henderson County, North Carolina. Chuck, as he was known by most people, was a retired Navy Master Chief, Navy recruiter for 18 years, a retiree of the C&O railroad, 50-year member of the Shriners and Masons, and a member of the Newport News Moose Lodge 1119 and American Legion Post 25.

Chuck was predeceased by his parents, William Henry Capps and Calla Beddingfield Capps. He is survived by his wife, Ora Capps, daughters Karen Robens and Cathy Oakes, step-daughters Diane Nortness (Matt), and Terry van Oekel (Rudy), four grandsons, one granddaughter, sister Nancy Green of Hendersonville, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2022. A graveside service, officiated by Chaplain Clay Napier, with military and Masonic rites will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Grace Hospice Care and Charter Senior Living for all their love and support for our family.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

So sorry to read of Chucks passing. My dad Dale Fenner thought so much of Chuck as did I. Always remember his smiling face and kind personality.
