John Clark Obituary

Husband and father John Dee Clark III entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday November 16th, 2021.

He was surrounded by family, at home, and was 72 years old.

JD's Christian faith was an essential part of his life. Throughout his life he studied and preached the gospel, and was a member of various bible studies and churches.

He was a graduate of Denbigh High School's first graduating class, being named Class Clown. He was a graduate of Christopher Newport College's first graduating class, which is also where he met his wife.

JD's infectious laugh and humor is one of the things he will be most remembered for along with his love of family. He was a talented singer and guitarist. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing on beautiful courses like Pebble Beach, Ca. and seeing tournaments like the Masters in August, GA.

JD was a professional Santa Claus for the last 7 years, bringing joy to many children. He prepared taxes for Jackson Hewitt at Walmart for 10 years. Previously, JD was a manager at U-Haul, a salesman at Suttle Oldsmobile and ran his own insulation removal company Peninsula Insulation.

He is preceded in death by his parents John Dee Clark of Lynchburg,VA. and Mary Theresa Reese Clark of Crisfield, Md., both residing in Newport News.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 52 years Donna Yeatts Clark and daughter April Clark, both of Newport News. Many brother and sister in laws, nephews and nieces mourn his loss.

A celebration of life is to be held in February around his birthday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Union Mission Ministries.

What I remember first about your husband and dad was his effect on those around him, because if you ever entered a room he was in, you were drawn immediately to the sound of laughter from the person next to him. Then, as you looked to see what they were responding to, you saw JD and his wonderful smile. The playful affection between my cousin Donna and JD also made a big impression on me growing up. For a developing psyche, it was a real gift to witness the profound love always evident in your family. I cherish those memories of times we were together. Sending my deepest, heartfelt condolences.
