I am so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. Ken was a wonderful man and colleague. He and I worked together for several years at MANDEX and CSC. Ken was so kind and gentle with such a sweet smile. May he rest in eternal peace.

An open letter to Kenneth Charles Almquist, may your soul forever rest in Peace:
Dear Ken,
We have known you and your family for almost 30 years. Although we have not spoken of most of these things in person, we want you and everybody else to know how we feel about you.
Whether the dictionary defines a gentleman or a gentle man, your picture belongs with the narrative. As one example: For many years, Riverside Dialysis was a non-profit organization that had an annual art auction. Your wife, Janell, was one of the co-organizers. You did a lot of the back-breaking work required to set up and to dismantle the function. Others also helped, but you did more than your fair share of the work. You never sought accolades. You just kept your warm, gentle smile and did whatever was needed.
Janell had other functions for her co-workers and dialysis patients at your welcoming home. Here, also, you just kept quiet, smiled, and helped Janell and the patients in every way possible. An exemplary host would be a fitting description of you.
We don't remember how many inches tall you stood, but there was no doubt you were a giant of a gentle man.
That warm, sincere smile always defined you. Anybody who was with you could not help, but notice you. Blending into the background might have been your desire, but the results of your efforts stood tall.
You always will be in our hearts. We were so fortunate to have spent time with you, Janell, and some of the family. By any measure though, not nearly enough time.
We can only imagine the grief and feeling of loss that now envelopes Janell and your family. We hope that knowing how other people remember you will help them to manage this overbearingly difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Janell and all of the other family members.
With love, affection, and many wonderful memories,
/s/

Dear Janell & family,
As Mary said, the only words are "The Word". A Word given me after the recent death of my Mother comes from John 17:24 "Father, I desire that they also whom thou hast given me be with Me where I am.....that they may behold My glory." And she said "amazing to realize our Lord's desire is fulfilled in the death of those who are His!"
Our blessed hope. May He comfort you as only He knows how.
Love & Prayers, Nonie

My dear Janell and her wonderful family,
I really do not have anything helpful to say but those things you know already. The story of the man who saw his walk with the Lord the good shepherd in 2 sets of footsteps in the sand side by side. He asked the Lord "every once in a while I see only 1 set of footprints, what is happening?" The Lord replied, "That's when I carried you." This little story you have probably heard, but it springs to my thoughts now as for you, this is one of those times the Lord is carrying you. Loving and praying for you as we have been these past years,we are still so very very sorry. In my memory are some very fun times together and we will always cherish you both in our hearts.
