I met Nancy as the owner/manager of Nancy's Calico Patch. She was a wonderful person! She made her customers feel welcome and tried to help them with whatever they needed. She understood how sad I was to part with my Elna sewing machine when they were unable to repair it. Instead, she encouraged me to think of it as a "parts" needed for others with their machine! I then became a new owner of a Bernina sewing machine! She took the time to educate me on the new machine regarding its use and even thread to be used! She had an excellent eye toward the fabrics and other items to have in her store. I was so sorry to learn of her closing her store. Now after time has passed, I know she had her customers in mind when she sold the store to others, although I have missed her! When reading of her passing, my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this sad time.

I was employed by Nancy at her shop, Nancy's Calico Patch, for many years. I was the youngest there and not at all experienced, and she was so patient and understanding, always. She is one of the kindest ladies I've ever known. I remember when my turtle went missing: she took my hands in hers and told me how she understood, and what a caring heart I had. She was so sweet to everyone she met. I have so many beautiful memories of her over so many years, and I am just devastated to hear of her passing. Blair, I love you and Nancy both, and am so grateful for all you did for me. I am so sorry you lost your beloved wife. I will be keeping you in prayer.

Oh how the sewing and quilting community will miss Nancy and her expertise in all things craft related. I will miss Nancy as she taught me my first quilting class in 1991. I did not think I needed to take a quilting class as I had been attempting to quilt since 1976. Nancy said, "oh no, the tips you will get from a class will be invaluable" and she was soooo right.
My thoughts are with your family Nancy and I know you are teaching them quilting up above.

Blair, sincere condolences over the loss of your beloved Nancy. She has a partner in Heaven, as my dear Josephine passed away on August 31. Jo was a close friend of Nancy, and I´m sure that they are hard at work sewing away on angel´s gowns!!
