"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes well you might find, you get what you need." George Belcher Crisman peacefully passed on July 4, 2017, at the age of 69, after his third battle with cancer. At the end, George got just what he needed and was surrounded, loved and embraced by the people who loved him the most. Although a loyal son of Virginia, he spent the last ten years of his life on the Outer Banks of North Carolina enjoying every sunset with the love of his life, Judy. Their 48-year marriage was a testament to true love. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel E. Crisman, Jr. and survived by his mother, Esther B. Crisman; his sister, Lisa Crisman and her husband, Chris; his brother-by-another-mother, John Mosticone and his wife, Barbara; his brother-in-law, Raymond Baker and his wife, Bea; and brother-in-law, Danny Barrett and his wife, Brenda. While many called him Papa George, he was the proud father of Melissa Crisman, Amanda Crisman Richardson and her husband, Spencer Richardson, and Daniel E. Crisman and his partner, Jessica Anderson. His enthusiasm for life, learning and storytelling will be passed on by his three grandchildren, Schuyler Crisman, Oliver Richardson, and Calvin Richardson. George was a graduate of Highland Springs High School '66, attended Virginia Tech and was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve. He began his professional career with Dominion Energy in 1970 at the Twelfth Street Power Plant in Richmond, Virginia however he spent the majority of his 39 year career in nuclear power generation. He was at the forefront of nuclear power development in Virginia when Surry Nuclear Power Station went online in 1972 and North Anna Nuclear Power Station Nuclear Power Station in 1978. He was proud of his career in Nuclear Power and Dominion Energy could not find a bigger supporter than George. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company in honor of the wonderful town that was his home for over 30 years. A Celebration of George's life and legend will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company.
