Jaffray Louise Edens Cox

June 23, 1958 - February 4, 2026

Jaffray Louise Edens Cox (1958-2026) of The Plains, Virginia, died February 4 due to complications from surgery. She was 67 years of age, and the daughter of Hazle Jaffray Woodriff Edens and Joseph Cook Edens Jr. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Dr. Wendell Haley Cox, and is survived by her mother, brothers Joseph Cook Edens III, wife, Kelly and Edward Henry Edens IV, wife, Natalie, niece Evelina Eugenie Edens, and nephews Joseph Cook (Jack) Edens IV, and William Hilton Edens, as well as many family members in Virginia, Louisiana and California and two stepchildren, Mariel Cox Folk and Benjamin Haley Cox.

She graduated from Grymes Memorial School in Orange, Virginia, Oldfields School in Glencoe, Maryland, and Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

After working in New York City for a few years, she earned her law degree at Howard University in Washington, DC. She worked for the Brandywine Conservancy in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, until her 2006 marriage, when she moved to Maryland, where she continued her legal land conservation work. Following the loss of her husband, she moved to The Plains, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Middleburg Humane Foundation in Marshall, VA. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
