Everett and I lived across the hall from Jimmy and Harriet at Georgia Tech and they visited us a few years after we moved to Panama City. We are absolutely stunned to hear of his death and we are so very sorry.
Our two families kept in touch for a number of years and then we all got too busy with our lives and our children. I regret that.

I was with my daughter and grandchildren in Seattle/Bainbridge Island, WA, when a friend called me with this sad and tragic news. I have been a patient of Dr. Knight for over 25 years, and had just seen him on May 21st. He was so kind and thoughtful--a wonderful person and doctor. It is such a loss to his family, patients and the entire medical community. He will truly be missed.
With my deepest sympathy,

Jim has been our friend and our physician since we lived across the street from him on Brandywine Drive back in the i970s. He was a wonderful doctor -- kind, thoughtful, careful to explain -- all too rare in medicine today. Although we moved to Richmond 18 years ago, we have continued to drive up to Charlottesville to visit him for our regular checkups and occasional ailments. We will miss him terribly.
With our most sincere condolences,
Ken Arnold

"Jimmy" was a great friend and wonderful classmate back in our high school days in Perry. He was an incredible role model for all of us through scouting, school and athletics. Always worked hard, cared deeply and loved all.
We will all miss him. May God's grace be upon his family during this difficult time of sadness. His love for you will never be lost.

Dr. Knight was a very kind and gentle man. A wonderful doctor and we will miss him and his care so very much. It will be a almost impossible job to replace him and his mannerism. We send our deepest sympathy to the family and of course Libby and Bev his wonderful medical staff. God has gained a great man and he has left us with many wonderful memories and words.

I was so sorry to hear of Dr. Knight's passing. He was a kind and attentive doctor - easy to know and trust. I will miss the professional approach he gave to the critical task of FAA flight physicals. I will miss my fellow aviator and friend, and we have all lost a doctor whose contribution to flight safety will not easily be replaced.

My wife and I were out of the state when Dr. Knight passed. He was a giant of a man, who fervently cared about others. I was shocked to hear of his passing and wish peace and God's comfort for his family and friends.
Having been his patient for over 20 years, I hardly think I will find another GP with his compassion and kindness. God Bless

I was so sorry to hear of Jimmy's untimely death. But how wonderful to hear what an impact he made on so many people. We grew up together in Perry, FL, and our parents were friends. I remember visiting the Knights as a kid and the friendship my mother, Roberta, and Jimmy's mother, Lesie, had. Take comfort in knowing that he is with the Great Physician now. Our deepest condolences are with his family and friends. God bless you all.

my first Personal doctor and I am GREATLY SADDENED to learn of this tragedy, I had hoped to get to know him more through my visits. He was calm, thoughtful and considerate in counseling me per my health and lifestyle. My deepest regret for his family and friends who had the pleasure to know him and love him.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the untimely death of Jim Knight. We knew Jim when he was an intern & resident at University of Virginia Hospital in the mid 70's. He was golden. Unique, caring, wonderfully intelligent, fun, & had the uncanny ability to bring joy to night duty on North 4. He had a song. He drove us all crazy at the time with his song. We'll never forget it, as it is what made him so endearing, along with his accent, of course. Here it is Jim...for you... in loving memory. A great loss for your patients, your family, your friends, & those of us who knew you for a special, too brief moment in time...

Jim had a smiling and welcoming face when I arrived to MJH in the early 1990s. In the E.R. he was always calm and patient. He loved his patients and delighted in challenging the staff to do the same. Always compasionate, always understanding. I also remember many occasions of Jim making phone call home from the nurses' station --- even on busy days --- to chat with his girls. Jim inspired me to love my family more, to love others despite differences and difficulties, and to see the good in everyone. My heart sank when I heard the news of Jim's passing. I know he is sorely missed. No words can express this sorrow. His spirit survives in many memories of his works of charity and compassion.

To the Knight family and medical staff,
I feel so very fortunate to have been a patient of Dr.Knight's. His genuine concern, easy going manner and methodical thinking always put me at ease. He always asked me if I had been wearing my seat belt and I would respond by asking him if he had been wearing sunscreen. He often spoke with such admiration of his daughter and granddaughter. God bless you and your family by giving you the strength to endure these difficult times and the patience to understand.

I had the honor of knowing Jim Knight as my doctor for over 25 years. During my last visit, we traded grandchildren stories and noted how much we treasured our grandchildren. He was so thrilled to have that experience, you could hear it in his voice and see it in his face. Jim truly gave life some meaning in all the things he did. The world has lost a good person who made a huge difference in the lives of all he touched.

May God comfort you in this time of sorrow and great loss. I was not a patient of Dr. Knight's, but I would come in to see him from time to time as a Pharmaceutical drug rep over the years. I'm a former patient of Dr. Knight's. Once I went to see him for a problem I was having with my feet. I told him I was very sentitive and warned him to sit back a few feet when he examined them. I'll never forget how gentle he was. He used a cotton ball on my toes and he didn't get kicked! I thought the world of him and my thoughts are with you. To The Family & Staff
I was so saddened to read about Dr Knight. He was my Dr. for 30 years. I will always remember his care and concern. I will never forget when I went in for my yearly physical he would come in the examining room, shake my hand, sit on one of his legs in a chair and ask about my health. The last question would always be, "are you using your seat belt"? I am among many who will miss him. It was a comfort to know that if I had a health problem he was there to take care of me.
May the Lord be with all of you during this sad and difficult time.

Dear Elaine & Family,
We were greatly saddened to hear of Dr. Jim Knight's passing and we will miss him terribly. My husband and I have been his patients for over 20 years and we could always trust that we were in good hands. Jim was a "gentle" man and always took the time to listen to anything we needed to talk about during an office visit. He never made me feel like he was in a hurry to get to the next patient. When I told him my mother, whom he had never met, had been diagnosed with Alzheimers, he told me he would say a prayer for her. He always knew how to make me feel better both mentally and physically.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your whole family, and may Jim's memories comfort you. God has better plans for him now.
