Louis B. "Chip" Proffitt III

1964 - 2022

Chip was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on November 11, 1964, and died on December 21, 2022, at UVA Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley Wood Proffitt; his mother, Margaret West Proffitt; his father, Louis II and his wife, Martha; two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, several special cousins; and his little dog, Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jon Proffitt; and his grandparents, Louis and Helen Proffitt, William and Mrs. Forrest West.

Chip enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and target shooter. He was well-versed in all phases of the auto parts business working his first job with his grandfather at Motor Specialty. He was currently employed over 23 plus years as a Regional Supervisor for Fisher Auto Parts.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home from 2 until 3:45 p.m., a short service will be held from 3:45 until 4 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
