Nancy Smith Obituary

Nancy Page Smith, 81, of Midlothian, died on Friday, July 28, 2006, in a Midlothian Health Care facility.

Born October 31, 1924, in Charlottesville, Virginia she was the eldest daughter of the late John White Page and Annie Belle Page.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, John White Page, Jr., and two sisters, Elizabeth R. Page and Caroline Page O'Neill.

Surviving her are her husband, J. Doyle Smith of Midlothian, retired Professor of Chemistry at the Medical College of Virginia; her daughter, Elizabeth Page Smith of Richmond; her son Stephen Doyle Smith and his wife, Tracy, of Powhatan, Virginia; two step-grandchildren; a sister and brotherin-law, Bobbie and Russell Mooney of Charlottesville; three nephews, Jim Mooney, Bob Mooney, and Dan O'Neill, all of Charlottesville; and a niece, Page O'Neill Gilliam, of Charlottesville.

Nancy graduated from Greenwood High School and attended Mary Washington College. She married Doyle Smith in 1944 and lived in Richmond since then. She was a member of Chapter R of P.E.O., and Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church in Richmond. She did much volunteer work in Richmond, including Grace House and the Play Therapy group at MCV Pediatric Unit.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, in the Monticello Memory Gardens with the Rev. W. Robert Floyd officiating.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, in the Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, Richmond.

The family suggests that any desired memorial contributions be made to Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, 7000 Park Avenue, Richmond, VA 23226; Hospice of Richmond, or a charity of your choice.
