Richard Albert Obituary

Richard Lewis "Dick" Albert

Richard Lewis "Dick" Albert passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Bedford, Va.

Richard was born in Baltimore Md., and was the proud father of Valerie Albert Williams, R. Glenn Albert and M. Blake Albert. He was fun-loving grandfather to Nicholas, Jacob, Ben, Emily, Lauren and Reagan. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Woodrow Albert; mother, Beaulah Nichol Albert; cherished partner of many years, Sue W. Burruss; former spouse, Denzel K. Ramsey; and youngest son, M. Blake Albert.

Richard grew up in the Belmont area of Charlottesville, and, throughout his lifetime, remained close to many childhood friends. He regularly shared their lifetime experiences playing sports, hunting, and fishing. After graduating from Lane High School, Richard attended Mars Hill University where he played football. Afterwards, he returned to Charlottesville, became a police officer, then ultimately found his calling as a real estate agent working for Real Estate III.

As well as being a devoted father and loving grandfather, Dick formed strong friendships and connections throughout his lifetime: Belmont, Johnson Village, Western Albemarle, workplaces, and much more. Up to the moment he passed, he held a sentimental and important place in his heart for all those he met and those he loved. Ever so quick with a smile, that deep voice, sincere charm and limitless wealth of stories (with a characteristically comical perspective) were captivating and always sincere. Richard's one-of-a-kind/unique sense of humor, constant inspiration, warm-hearted nature, and steadfast "never give up" spirit will surely be missed and always treasured. His hugs and words of wisdom could cure all.

Special thanks to the staff at Bedford County Nursing home for the gracious care they bestowed and to his lovely prior caregiver Mary Johnson (and her ladies) of Lynchburg.

A Best Friend a young boy growing up to manhood could have had. We had the best time hanging out in the Belmont area together. As they say "our stomping ground". I remember after weight lifting we would go to your house for your Mom's Grape Jelly Sandwiches. Then there was the time, "you", Richard, Clif, Edward, Donald of the "Four Hearts" almost made it on the Ted Mack amatuer Hour Show. We were good together. Many other good time memories. Sorry that I hadn't been able to keep closer, but NOW will truly miss you. May God bless and be with your Family. Donald & his family.

Forever kind, genuine, strong and handsome Virginia gentleman through and through. The way you two connected with those beautiful eyes: such the apple of his eye you are.
Loyal and dedicated and true through the end.
