Allan Bowsfield Obituary

ALLAN L. BOWSFIELD AGE: 63 THORNHURST, PA Allan L. Bowsfield, 63, of Thornhurst, PA, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010. Born in Dover, he attended Dover High where he began learning to be a machinist. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1965-1969 achieving the rank of Second Class Petty Officer before being honorably discharged. He lived in NJ and honed his skills as a machinist all his life and became very skilled and respected in his art. He retired from S. Johnson & Son of Belvidere in January of 2007. Even in retirement he stayed busy assisting friends and family with machinist and automobile projects. Al loved motorcycles and motorcycle racing all his life. In his younger days he raced Enduro and Motor Cross, and in more recent years he helped and coached his son Keith on his own racing team. He also made a return to the racing world in 2009 drag racing at RMC against his son. He is survived by his sons, Keith and Eric; his daughter-in-law, Mary; grandchildren, Corey, Michelle and India; the mother of his children, Ruth, as well as a host of extended family and loved ones. Viewing on Wed., Jan. 27, from 4 to 6:30PM at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA. Funeral service will begin at 6:30PM Wednesday at the funeral home and will be followed by a wake at the Moose Lodge on Stokes Ave. in East Stroudsburg, PA. Arrangements by William H. Allen was a friend of mine at the East Dover School and at Dover High School. I remember him as having a heart of gold and he treated everyone with respect. May our Lord and Savior give his family comfort during their time of sorrow. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
