Eleanor Preston

AGE: 91 • Denville

Eleanor Preston (Powers) passed away at Franciscan Oaks in Denville, NJ at the age of 91.

She lived in Staten Island for most of her life before moving to Denville, NJ 6 years ago.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was a long time member of St. Clare's Church in Staten Island, and the Great Kill Swim Club where she was a member for over 50 years. Eleanor graduated college as an adult in her 50's while a full time mother. She volunteered much of her time to the community, including the local election board, the Richmond County Historical Society and the Sweet Adeline's Chorus, among others.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Arthur Preston.

Eleanor is survived by her 7 children, Jeffrey, Jeanette, Brian, Judy, Arthur Jr., Douglas and Robert as well as her 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin on Wednesday April 5, 2017, at 9AM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com and then going to St. Mary's Church in Denville for a 10:30AM Liturgy of Christian Burial Mass. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ. Friends may visit on Tuesday, April 4th from 2-4 & 7-9PM.
