Dr. Henry F. Neumann

AGE: 74 • Mt. Arlington

Dr. Henry F. Neumann, 74, of Mt. Arlington, passed away at Kindred Hospital in Dover on Thursday, August 17, 2017, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Dr. Neumann was born in the Bronx, NY and raised in Little Falls, NJ. He graduated from Passaic Valley High School in 1961 where he ran track and field. He majored in Biology at Moravian College and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon. After graduating in 1965, Dr. Neumann worked as a research chemist and then attended Temple University Dental School where he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class in 1970. He did a year-long internship in Pediatric Dentistry at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh and his residency at Children's Hospital in Cleveland from 1971 to 1972. He received his Masters of Science in Orthodontics and Cranio Facial Therapy from Case Western Reserve in 1974. After returning to New Jersey , Dr. Neumann was an instructor at Farleigh Dickinson University Dental School. In 1975 he entered private practice and eventually had offices in Landing, Succasunna, Boonton, and Parsippany.

In addition to his many professional achievements, he was a past president of the Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, and a founding member of the Allegheny Avenue Boys Club. Dr. Neumann was famous for his intelligence, wit, storytelling, and irreverent sense of humor. He was a karaoke enthusiast and his versions of Margaritaville, My Way, and Piano Man were legendary. He was known in watering holes across Northern New Jersey as 'Doc' and was the life of the party wherever he went. He loved skiing in Colorado, Thanksgivings and Christmases with his family, taking walks with his wife, and reading to his grandchildren.

Dr. Neumann is survived by Young, his wife and best friend of 18 years; four children (three with his first wife Susan) John of Washington DC, Dana and her husband Gregory Niosi of Mansfield, MA, Douglas and his wife Meaghen of NYC, and Lisa and her husband Steven of Parsippany. He is also survived by six grandchildren Lily, Caitlin, Mia, Alexander, Christopher, and Dean. Dr. Neumann was preceded in death by his father Albert, his mother Elizabeth, and his brother Albert.

Visitation- Monday, August 21, 2017, 5:00-9:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com).

Celebration of Life- Tuesday, August 22, 2017, 10:30AM, at Church of the Savior, 155 Morris Ave, Denville. Entombment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.

Dr Neumann always with a smile

Saddened to hear of the passing of my cousin. His smile and humor always lit up a room. He will be deeply missed by family and the many friends he's made on his life's journey. I will remember you when carving a turn on a bluebird western powder day you loved so much. RIP dear cuz.
