Joseph DeSantis Obituary
AGE: 87 • West Caldwell
Joseph Nicholas DeSantis, age 87, of West Caldwell, NJ, formerly of Livingston, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014. Joe made lifelong friends from Orange High School. He received a BA in Chemistry from Upsala College and an MBA from Seton Hall University. Joe was first employed as a chemist for Merck. He continued his career in the pharmaceutical industry and was the marketing director of Case-Hoyt Corporation before his retirement. Joe was a proud Marine. His love of his country and Italian heritage were very important to him. He was a member of Unico, Knights of Columbus Council, and was a Livingston Little League Baseball coach for his sons. Joe was an avid Yankees baseball and Giants football fan. He enjoyed traveling with his family to the Caribbean, Disneyland, and spending summers in Long Beach Island. More recently, he enjoyed golfing in Naples, FL and Cape Cod. Joe treasured his family. Every holiday and family gathering brought an abundance of love, laughter, and memories. He instilled in his family his extraordinary generosity, patience, and modesty.
Beloved husband of the late, Marie DeSantis and the late, Anne Rapicano DeSantis. Devoted father of Linda DeSantis, Cathy and her husband Tom Sullivan, Michael A. DeSantis and his partner Angelo Barela and the late Michael A. and Joseph M. DeSantis. Loving grandfather of Jennifer and her husband Dennis Guerrero, Jaime and her husband Bryan Fittipaldi, Maria Sullivan and Thomas Joseph Sullivan. Cherished great-grandfather of Ava, Andrew and Grace. A devoted brother to his late sister, Rose DiBenedetto and Dr. Marge DeSantis. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 44 Benvenue Avenue West Orange, NJ, on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. The DeSantis' will receive their family and friends at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ, today Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Joe will always be remembered for his kind and loving heart. My Aunt Nan adored him and having him as a part of our family was a blessing.
