Roger Sorenson Obituary

Roger Sorenson
Roger Dale Sorenson (Ra-Ra, Rodge) passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on May 14, 2016. He was born August 28, 1952 in Ellensburg WA to Arnold and Stella (Storlie) Sorenson. He attended schools in Ellensburg, graduating from Ellensburg High School in 1970. He then joined the Army for 2 years and was stationed in Germany and Crete. He returned to Ellensburg after his tour of duty and soon he met Carol Reed and they were married on December 27, 1975. They moved to Yakima where Roger attended Perry Trade Institute and became an HVAC mechanic. Their son Justin was born in 1979 in Yakima and sadly he passed away April 8, 1980. Then in 1984 they had a daughter, Shelby also born in Yakima. They moved to Everett and Roger began working at Universal Refrigeration in Auburn. He enjoyed working for the company and continued working for them until he became ill and was no longer able to work. Roger was a stubborn Norwegian and proud of his heritage. He was loved by many. He enjoyed a bottle of Guinness on occasion and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He always looked forward to his yearly walleye fishing trips with his brothers. He also looked forward to the yearly Sorenson family reunions at his brothers house in Ellensburg. Most of all he loved his family and shared a special bond with his 2 granddaughters Kayleigh and Taylor. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Stella (Storlie) Sorenson, his infant son Justin and brother Les Sorenson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Carol Reed Sorenson, daughter Shelby Stone and son in law Nick Stone, granddaughters Kayleigh and Taylor Oveson, all of Everett. He is also survived by his brothers Gene, of Vancouver, Jerry (Ann) of Monroe and sister Sonja Corey of Long Beach WA and sister in law Gwen Sorenson of Ellensburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr Michael Rohrenbach and nurse Christi Stevens of the Everett Clinic for all their wonderful care over the years. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date and a graveside service will be held in Yakima where he will be laid to rest next to his son.
