Peter Mixter Obituary

Peter Jason Mixter
April 7, 1952 - May 10, 2024
Peter Jason Mixter passed away, at the age of 72, on May 10, 2024, in New York City, after bravely battling Parkinson's Disease for over 15 years. Born on April 7, 1952, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Mason Mixter (Stephanie Leonard) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Peter grew up in Darien, Connecticut, and was a lifelong New Yorker. Peter was an alum of The Choate School and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont and earned an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. Peter entered the training program at Manufacturers Hanover Trust upon his business school graduation. Peter is best known for his distinguished 20-year (1979-1999) investment banking career in Mergers and Acquisitions at Lehman Brothers. He was a consummate host, who was the life of the party and always the smartest, most charismatic person in the room. Peter is survived by his sister, Valerie Dove of Middleburg, Virginia; his brother, Stephen Mixter of Naples, Florida; three sons, Tyler, Dewey and William; two grandchildren and a myriad of Mixter/Leonard relatives and caring friends. No service is planned in New York City. Peter will be remembered and interred at Hardwick Cemetery, Hardwick, Massachusetts.
Memorial contributions may be made to: The Marlene and Paolo Fresco Institute for Parkinson's and Movement Disorders at NYU Langone, 222 East 41st Street, 13th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
