Bessie S.
Age 100, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Bethany Lutheran Village. Bessie was the Owner/Operator of Golden Nugget Pancake House and a longtime member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve W.; and daughter, Eugenia S. "Genie". Bessie is survived by her daughters, Stephanie S. Thomas, Alexandra S. Thomas and Anastasia "Stacey" (Pantelis) Frangomichalos; sons, Gregory Thomas, and William S. (Julia) Thomas; brother, Nicholas G. Seremetis; grandchildren, Steven G. (Tracee), Jonathan G. and Stephanie G. Thomas, Michael P. and Alexandra P. Frangomichalos; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Charlotte and Alethea; granddog, Lexi and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service 12 Noon Thursday, January 20, 2022, at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North with Father Anthony Cook officiating. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 AM until service time at the church. Masks required. A traditional mercy meal will be held at the church community center after the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Bessie's memory. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany Lutheran Village and The Hospice of Dayton for the loving care they provided to Bessie. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Marker & Heller Funeral Homes.

Bessie Thomas will always be remembered by our family. I remember her kindness over 50 years ago when my son was a toddler and spilled water water all over himself and she came to the rescue. Over the years we shared stories and I watched as her daughters grew up to be such a tribute to her sharing the same care and kindness to our family and others. The Golden Nugget was always our favorite place for breakfast and/or lunch. May God continue to bless the Thomas family.

Bessie was always so sweet and thoughtful. We remember her and your father when we ate at the Salem Avenue location and our children were babies. We ate lunch close to work at the Keowee location and Genie always brightened our day. She, like your Mom was so special. Genie, your Mom and our Ashley are Angels we all cherish. Stephanie, Alex and Stacey, you all are so special to us and we miss our visits with each of you whenever we were at the Golden Nugget. Thanks again for the Cream of Wheat that our Ashley so enjoyed. To Bessie´s wonderful family, especially Stephanie, Alex and Stacey, May Larry and I extend our sincere sympathy on the passing of your dear mother. I apologize I didn´t know sooner to express our condolences. As you know, your mother was such a kind and caring lady who raised beautiful children who show that same kindness and compassion for others. When I first visited that old mansion in Dayton, I wondered who could live in a home so grand? It was Bessie and Steve and children! I had met daughter Genie (of blessed memory) on the
Ahepa Journey to Greece program and this began my family's long friendship with Genie, Decca (Stephanie), Steve, Bessie, and the rest of the clan. Our lives intertwined for many years. We suffered illnesses, deaths, marriages, and other life struggles from afar but always with support for each other. Mother Bessie was the glue that held this large family together with her kindness, love, and and endearing ways. I have seldom met a more endearing and gracious lady. She will always represent the good values a person should have and an example for all mothers. I will always hold her close to my heart.
I rejoice to know that she is with Steve, Genie, and Mother Mary G. As we say in our tradition...Truly memory eternal!
