Donald TURTON Obituary

TURTON, Donald R. Age 86, of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Donald was born on January 4, 1932, to Ralph and Mildred (Beach) Turton. When Donald was 3 years old the family relocated to Centerville where he became a lifelong resident. He graduated from Centerville High school in 1951, before serving his country in the US Army. He was stationed in Germany for 2 years during the Korean War before returning to Centerville. Donald worked as a self-employed plumber for over 50 years serving numerous people in his community. Donald and his wife, Joanne, were longtime members of the Centerville United Methodist Church. He also volunteered for the Centerville Police Auxiliary for a number of years. Donald was a member of Rock Moriah Lodge (later Far Hills Lodge) F&AM and recently received his 60 year pin. He was also a 32 degree member of AASR Valley of Dayton. Donald was an avid antique collector, and could often be found searching for the right deal through countless estate sales and auctions. He was a big fan of all the Centerville Elks sporting events. Above all, Donald was a family man and loved bragging about his 6 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Donald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Joanne (Uhl) Turton. Donald is survived by his children; Karen Johnson, Vicki (Mike) Carter, Susan (Marty) Widowski, Michael (Trish) Turton, Janice (Casey) Walker, and Greg (Tammy) Turton; grandchildren, Eric (Liz) Johnson, J. Michael (Paige) Carter, Chris (Debbie), Nick, and Jennifer Widowski, Jacob Turton, Andrew Drake, Erica (Chris) Faulkner, Dustin Scrimpshire, Aundrea Walker, Josh (Ciara) Walker, Justin (Tabitha) Turton, and Derek (Mindi) Turton; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers Wayne (Mary) Turton, Roy (Sue) Turton, and Glen (Deborah) Turton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Donald is also survived by his furry pals Katie and Sadie. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018, from 2-4pm, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville 45459. A service will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018, at 11am, with a visitation an hour prior, at Routsong, Centerville. Burial at Centerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 W. Whipp Rd, Dayton, OH, 45459, in memory of his wife, Joanne.
