Robert Trimbach Obituary

Trimbach, Robert Lee

Robert "Bob" Lee Trimbach Jr, 78, of Dayton, OH, passed away on Friday, August 8th, 2025 in Asheville, NC surrounded by his family.

Bob was born December 17th, 1946 in Dayton, OH. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Sr. and Pauline Olive Trimbach (Adelberger), and siblings, John Charles Trimbach and Carol Anne Mills (Trimbach).

Bob grew up in Old North Dayton on Daniel Street. He graduated from Our Lady of the Rosary School in 1961 and Chaminade High School in 1965. He later went on to receive his Associate's Degree in Art from Sinclair Community College in 1974.

Bob was dedicated to public service. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967 until honorably discharged in 1972. He served on the Dayton Fire Department from 1975 until his retirement in 2000, when he famously wore a tuxedo on his last day on the job. He was awarded Firefighter of the Year in 1999.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Deborah "Debbie" Ann Trimbach (Brodnick). Bob and Debbie married on November 18th, 1972 at St. Joe's Catholic Church and were married for 52 years until his passing. Bob is also survived by his four incredible children, Douglas Robert Trimbach (Nicole Killeen) of Asheville, NC, Andrew Bernard Trimbach (Jade Watermiller) of Los Angeles, CA, Dr. David Joseph Trimbach (Travis Weller) of Tacoma, WA, and Margaret Mary Trimbach (Alex Oyola) of Portland, OR, and his pride and joy granddaughter, Mira Mae "Squirt" Trimbach. Bob is also survived by his Aunt Katherine, numerous pets, cousins, nieces and nephews, and the many non-biological children who endearingly called him "Uncle Bob."

Bob enjoyed fishing, dancing, attending concerts, traveling with his wife, spending time with his family, and having a laugh.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27th at St. Joe's Catholic Church in Dayton, followed by a celebration of life at the Dayton Firefighters Activity Center. All are invited to join in to celebrate the incredible man who was so beloved.

Memorial donations in Bob's memory may be directed to The Nature Conservancy or the National Resources Defense Council.
