My condolence goes out to the May family for your loss. My memory of Dave May was an autograph picture I received when I a young baseball player. I got the picture of Dave from my uncle (Greg Williams) who happens to be Dave's cousin. I just remember being in awe when I got the picture. I was saddened when I read the notice in the paper. Even though we were not directly related...in my eyes we were.

Dave was a great man! I first met him at the Hotel DuPont, I will never forget when I brought one of my baseball cards of him in and he signed it for me. Always easy to talk to, he will be missed by many.

My sincerer condolences to Dave's family. Dave was one of the people I always admired from the time we were boys playing ball at the Battery Park in New Castle. Over the years, I encouraged my children and colleagues in my profession by telling them the story of how hard Dave worked to achieve his dream.

My last conversation with Dave about two months ago was, of course, as we sat watching a Phillies game together via our cell phones. We laughed, talked, and shared many stories of us growing up in New Castle. Although I knew of his success in professional baseball, he told me many more stories than I had heard before. Dave ALWAYS put others before himself. He was a fine "gentleman" in every sense of the word. A wonderful man person and I am honored to be able to call him my friend and feel special that I had the chance to be one of Dave's classmates and to be in his graduating class of William Penn High School.
I shall NEVER forget you, Dave - E. Gale DeAscanis ~ your classmate forever!

I always remember sitting a laughing with Mr. May about all the GOOD times he had while playing baseball. He was the type of man that could get along with everybody, even meeting him for the first time. I am happy that I got a chance to speak to him about a month ago over the phone. We did what we do best wish was laugh and talk about the families and who is doing what. The last thing he said to me was Ira you take good care of yourself and your family and I am about to go and cook me something good to eat. Mr. May is and will be missed!!!!!!
