Edith B. Whitesell, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2005.
Mrs. Whitesell was a descendant of the McKee and Forwood families that have ties in the state of Delaware dating back to the 8th century. She was a bookkeeper for C.F. Hill Construction Company and worked right up until the week she died. In addition to her work, Mrs. Whitesell was an active member of Hillcrest-Bellefonte United Methodist Church and its Church Women United, and volunteered for F.I.S.H., an organization devoted to the arrangement of medical transportation. She was also a member of the Sellers and Fraim Senior Centers.
Mrs. Whitesell was predeceased in 1973 by her husband, Nowland W. Whitesell. She is survived by her 3 children, John W. Whitesell of Los Altos, CA and William B. Whitesell and Susan W. Bailey, both of Elkton, MD; 1 brother, James Middleton of Hunt Valley, MD; 10 grandchildren, Jim, Julie and Carolyn Whitesell, all of Los Altos, CA, Michael Whitesell of Chester, VA, Angela Whitesell of Wilmington, Brand Whitesell of Elkton, MD, Alison Elliott of London, UK and Bonnie, Brian and Tom Bailey, all of Elkton, MD; and 2 great grandchildren, Devynn and Michael Whitesell.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 30th, at Hillcrest-Bellefonte United Methodist Church, where friends are invited to call after 10 am. Interment will immediately follow in Chester Bethel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Rd., Newark, DE 19711; or to Hillcrest-Bellefonte Church, 400 Hillcrest Ave., Wilmington, DE 19809.
