Lynette Smith Obituary

Lynette L. Smith

AGE: 62 • Ocean View

Lynette L. Smith, age 62, of Ocean View, DE passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at her daughter's residence in Milton, DE. She was born on October 17, 1952 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, daughter of the late Stanley G. and Eleanor L. (Dolbear) Cox.

Lynette enjoyed a 28 year career with J.P. Morgan in Wilmington, DE as a Human Resource Specialist. She was a devoted member of the Basket Brigade of Delaware, a program inspired by Anthony Robbins, which strives to help those in need in Delaware, ensuring they have food for Thanksgiving. Lynette had a heart for volunteering, participating in a number of mentoring programs in Wilmington. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Lynette again recognized a need for others and gave the gift of her time to assist those whose lives were left in turmoil.

In 2011 Lynette relocated to Sussex County where she could spend time with her two greatest loves, her daughter Connie and the water. Lynette was an avid reader who joined local book clubs and also enjoyed creating her own signature cards for friends and family. She was a faithful member of Crossroads Community Church in Georgetown, DE.

Lynette is survived by her daughter, Connie L. Willey and her husband Michael of Milton, DE, two sisters, Ann Michaels and Louella Telzer and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Crossroads Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, DE where friends may visit beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Lynette's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Connie, it's amazing how time flies. Rereading your moms obituary again shocked me that it's been 9 years. I pray time has healed your pain, and you've learned to live with her in your heart. God bless you.

Connie, I was so saddened to read about your Mom's passing. I feared something was wrong because we saw each other once or twice a year, but I've not been able to get in touch with her for several years now. I pray she did not suffer. We started at BNY(DE) together. She was truly one of the finest people I ever had the honor to know.

I am shocked and saddened greatly to hear that this beautiful lady, Lyn, has left us, but I will rejoice that she is pain free and now one of our angels that will shine from above and ALWAYS be close to those who love her. I started to work at BONY DE back in 1987 as a part-time CS rep. Lyn was my HR person. I worked there at the end of my career there as a CS Supervisor. Today I work as the HR Manager at Applied Control Engineering for the past 13+ years. So I can relate to Lyn EVEN better now that in order to be a good HR person, you have to really be able to be the liaison between staff and management. Lyn always had an infectious beautiful smile. She had that outgoing personality, and one of those people you would know could never reveal if she was having a bad day, because she was SO PROFESSIONAL. Connie and Michael my heart goes out to you, but please feel blessed that so many people are crushed by your and our loss of Lyn. I love you Lyn, and am sorry I lost touch with you these past years. God Bless you and your family. Please find comfort in your many memories and the knowledge that SO VERY MANY people cared and loved your precious Lyn.....Cora
