Erik Petersen Obituary
He was the beloved husband of Denise L. Vertucci. He was the loving son of Ronald E. and Janice (nee Toscani) Petersen.
He was the brother of Andrew, Stephen, Christopher and Molly Petersen. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and pugs.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square. Services and interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Erik can be sent to Project Home, 1515 Fairmount Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19130 (projecthome.org) or Rock To The Future, P.O. Box 29324, Philadelphia, PA 19125 (rocktothefuturephilly.org).

Erik, I will never forget your kindness. You touched my life 20 years ago when I was struggling. Your shows were the cultural highlight of my life, but your attitude towards strangers left an even more positive impact. I didn't know about you until after your death, which is such a shame because your music brings so much joy to me and everyone I've introduced to it. Just a little over a year ago today my world was shaken tremendously to hear that my longtime favorite musician, face, and friend in the scene had passed away. Since my teen years this man was my idol and served to be one of the most inspirational musicians I have ever met. Erik and I never met but briefly during his shows that I would attend religiously. I find that to be one of my biggest regrets. Despite all of that, I am leaving this message mostly to remind surviving friends and family that Erik was a legend in the scene and changed people's lives forever. Most of whom he had never but briefly met. I leave my deepest condolences. I still am overcome by grief anytime I think about his wife, his friends, his family, his pugs, his music and his life in general. I know that it may be hard to live without him, and I can't imagine your sadness and how it feels to lose your friend, your son, your husband, or whatever relation. Even though it may be tough, I want you all to know that Erik changed the world, and will forever live on in my heart, and yours, and Erik's thousands of friends and fans. That in its own respect is something of which to be incredibly proud. May he rest in piece and may your pain and sadness ease as time passes. - SteveP.S. Erik was a bright light who acknowledged the shadows that are cast...... That is a courageous choice as an artist. Some artists/ painters choose to portray a "pretty" image but there are those few who see the exquisiteness in the hues, values and tones of the shadows-- simply more interesting !!!! Art is nothing without the shadows.....typically lifeless and flat. Thank you Erik for your sensitivity and courage. What a rich and purposeful life you have shared.
