Joseph M. Gallagher

Joseph M. Gallagher, age 80, passed away at home on August 12, 2023 after a courageous fight against cancer. Joe was born in Chester to the late Joseph and Mary (Macielag) Gallagher. He was a resident of Boothwyn for over 50 years. He attended Saint James Catholic High School for Boys and graduated from Eddystone High School. He was the co-owner of J&S Landscaping, worked at Electric Hose & Rubber Company, and retired from Congoleum Corporation in 2007 after 30 years. Joe really enjoyed a good breakfast, time spent at Ocean City, NJ, visits to Market Square Memorial Park, the Philadelphia Phillies, car shows, including Carlisle car show and auction, flea markets, antique auctions, Booth's Corner Farmer's Market, and Cowtown. he was the original American Picker, before "picking" became a popular pastime. Predeceased by his devoted wife of 56 years, Carol (Blythe) Gallagher, and sister, Irene (Gallagher) Haughland. Survived by son, Mark Gallagher (Donna), grandson, Mark Gallagher Jr., granddaughter, Meghan Gallagher, daughter, Kelly (Gallagher) Bateman (Michael), loving companion, Ann Gannone, and beloved cat, Sterling. A son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend. Joe will be missed by many. Services will be private.
