Joseph F. Schierse Sr.

1941 - 2018

Joseph F. Schierse, Sr., age 77, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Paul J., Sr. and Sophia M. (nee Bolterstorf) Schierse. Joseph was a graduate of LaSalle College and was employed with Easter Seals as an Accountant until 1989. Joseph’s most cherished love was for his family, children, and pets, Ginger and Pepper. He also enjoyed watching baseball, was an avid Phillies Fan, vacations at the Jersey Shore, and watching old movies. He sang in the choir at Annunciation BVM Church and also found time to coach Little League Softball. Joseph was the loving father of Joseph F. Schierse, Jr. (Bethann), Catherine Voumvourakis (Emmanuel), and Christine Newell, and their mother Mary (nee Montagna) Schierse; the proud grandfather of Christopher, Sarah, Sophia, Emma, Ryan, Elena, and Sofia. He is predeceased by his siblings, Sr. Catherine Schierse, Marie Weick and Msgr. Paul J. Schierse, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Thursday, March 15, 2018, 10-11 AM followed by his Funeral Mass, 11 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-356-1613.
