Nick supported his high school alumni at every opportunity. He was instrumental in establishing the St. James Alumni Reunion Mass that is still held every Spring long before the school closed in 1993. Always a gentleman, he set the standard for loyalty and brotherhood among fellow Bulldogs.

I knew Nick from officiating in the Big East and the ACC. If ever there was a class act it was Nick. A gentleman, who respected everyone he dealt with. Nick had an innate knowledge of football and football officiating. I worked my first Big East Bowl game as Nick's assistant. I just recalled now we had Bowden on one sideline Paterno on the other and Nick in the booth.

But what I'll also remember is his wit-his humor-that brought us all closer together. Rest in Peace Nick, we'll take it from here.

I was fortunate to have Nick as my Replay Official in his last year of the AAC.

Our final game of the regular season was during Thanksgiving in Cincinnati.

The crew decided to take a dinner cruise on a steamboat up the river which we thought may last 2 hours or so. Needless to say it lasted about 6 hours on a freezing winter night.

When we departed from the dock we had purchased Nick a 1st mate hat that he reluctantly wore for picture. By the end of the 6 hour journey he was wearing the Captain's hat as a near mutiny broke out.

That was Nick. In control, witty, and very kind.

He was and is a special man and extend my thoughts to him and his entire family as you celebrate his life.

Captain Nick,

Rest in peace my friend.

My deepest condolences to Nick Jr, Carron, Maureen and Brian, and to everyone who had the privilege of being touched by Nick. As extraordinary as Nick's accomplishments were, he took more pleasure in helping others than he did himself. He was was comfortable in the Board Room and the Lunch Room. He inspired all to be their best. He was loyal to all and he received it back. He had a sincere interest in the welfare of everyone he met and made of point to know their families. The mold is broken and I fear that the finest man I ever knew can not be replicated. Everything I have, and everything I have accomplished can be traced back to Nick's influenced. Return to God and rest in peace BOSS, you have served all of humanity well.
