Mr. Nugent was a kind, gentle , humorous and thoughtful man. He was another parent to all of the students whether or not we were in his classes or on his teams. We lost someone truly special and worthy of being emulated. May we all honor his memory by being better people.

One of the pillars of Chi, Nuge is sorely missed by so many. He was part of the village that raised so many kids at Chi, along with my dad Tony Apichella and so many others. Rest in Peace, Nuge.

A good part of who I am was planted and nurtured by "Nuge" he made a point of saying a prayer before every game. He led he taught and he showed me how to be a good person.

April 28, 2017

I was saddened this morning when I read about Bob's passing in the Garnet Valley Press. I had the privilege of being in Bob's Bible Study group at Church of the Holy Child. He would always give the historical background of what was going on at the time of whatever we were studying which just brought it all together for me. He was a wonderful, thoughtful man; he would leave newspapers containing children's puzzles for my girls hanging on my garage door. You could always see his love of God reflected in all that he did. I am grateful and blessed to have known him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

As a Chichester Cheerleader Mr. Nuge was the voice of my Friday nights. I can still her him calling the game with his very own brand of enthusiasm. "Flags Galore" is the quote that comes to mind, it always made me giggle. Wishing for peace to his family during this difficult time.

After knowing Nuge in school as a teacher, coach, band supporter and mentor to many students; I was surprised when I married to learn that he was like a 5th son in the LeMin family. This red haired Irishman was one of the Greatest Generation and his kind, thoughtful, generous and courageous life, lived with faith, good humor and wit, will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A great loss to his family, friends and colleagues. Equally missed and loved by the many students he befriended. Unlike today, Mr. Nugent was instrumental in encouraging young men and women as they progressed through their high school years and even later in their young professional lives. He further espoused confidence in each of us through his leadership and friendship.

Dear Mrs Huge, didn't go to Chi but everyone knew and loved him in Boothwyn. Sorry for your loss and the loss to our community.

As is said in The Wizard of Oz, "A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others." If so, Nuge had the largest heart in the world. I don't think you really get to meet many "great" people in the course of your life - but I met one with Nuge. What a role model. Kind, generous, caring, funny and a true gentleman. He devoted his life to the children and families of Chichester and St. James HS. He is gone, but his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched as a teacher, coach or friend. I will miss our lunches and talks, but your spirit lives on through me and many others. Thanks Nuge.

A great family man, a wonderful teacher, a pillar of his community, and an American War Hero. Nuge, you will truly be missed at all of our family gatherings. Your unassuming humble nature belied the fact that true, everday greatness lies in the simpleness of faith, family and your country.

"Nuge" was my defensive coach during our 1972 championship season at St James. Soft spoken for a football coach, professorial and very intelligent. He was also football wise and greatly respected by all the players. On many occasions, he used his talents to scout our next week's opponents and would prepare the weekly defensive scheme. During the 1972 season our Bulldog defense led by Coach Nugent's defense won the Catholic league with a 12-0 record with least amount of points scored against. We will miss you Nuge and God bless you.

He was well learnt in theology and the Baltimore Catechism. I had the privilege to facilitate with for a few years. He was always refreshing to listen to his interpretation of our studies. Helpful with in all activities. We will all miss he while we all are here on earth.

I remember Mr. Nugent as my 4th gade gym teacher in Linwood Elementery. when my class moved to Chichester High School we
were all excited that we would have one
of our teachers following us. I don't know who followed who , because as my sisters and I left school, our kids followed on our heels and Nug knew who
their parents where. He was a fun, carefree and caring man, he will be missed

Just want to say, how sad I was to read of Mr Nugent's passing. He and my Dad were in the Army together, and my Dad told me some funny stories about those two. But what I remember the best about him was on my first day of senior year, I had a flat tire and in the pouring rain, Mr Nugent changed the tire for me. What a very kind man.

We never knew how old Nuge was, nor did we care. He was ageless and young at heart. He was one of the pillars of Chi, along with my dad and Mrs. Forwood. They uplifted all of us in so many ways. We always felt safe and protected with teachers like these. He will be sorely missed by the many lives he touched. He was truly one of a kind. All of us are sending love and prayers and this sad time. We were privileged to have him at our 50th Class Reunion. Thanks for everything, Nuge. Love ya! B. J. Apichella, Class of '65.

To the Nugent Family, which includes all Chi alumni for many years:

Mr. Nugent was the was very giving teacher you see in the movies. I feel very indebted to him for the support he has given to our class of 1060 and to me personally.

I also feel fortunate that I was able to sit down with him for a good talk at our class reunion about a year and a half ago. He still had a stunning memory. He was a exceptionally good guy.
