Edward Mitchell Obituary

Edward Dennis Mitchell

Salisbury-Edward Dennis Mitchell, 68, of Salisbury, died on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake following a long battle with cancer. Born on September 11, 1946 in Salisbury, he was the son of Maria Mitchell and the late Edward D. Mitchell, Sr.

Edward, Ed, Mitchell, Mr. Ed, Eddie to some and Fast Eddie to others and to his granddaughter, he was Panda, was a 1965 graduate of Wi-Hi. Following graduation he served 4 years in the US Navy where he earned the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Salisbury Moose Lodge, The Silver Bullet Hunt Club and the Salisbury Van Club. He loved golfing at Nutters, hunting, fishing, kayaking and watercolor painting. He especially loved painting bookmarks for his friends. It seems everyone in town knows Ed and will remember him for his big grin and jokes that he loved to tell.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Rev. John Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Carroll Banks Mitchell; two sons, Eddie Mitchell of Salisbury, Justin Mitchell of Laurel, DE; step-children, Kelly Banks Toadvine of Greenville, SC and L. Scott Banks of Lewes, DE; and a granddaughter, Aubrey Toadvine. He is also survived by two sisters, Brenda Messick and her husband Don and Trudy Andersen and her husband Andy. He will be missed by his pets Bella and Farrah.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or Trinity United Methodist Church, 112 High St, Salisbury, MD 21801.
