G. Bounds Obituary

G. Norman Bounds

SALISBURY, MD-G. Norman Bounds, 96, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 20, 2014, at his home in Salisbury. Norm was the son of the late Lena and William E. Bounds, Sr., of Pocomoke City, MD. He was born April 21, 1917, and was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers, as well as his wife Phyllis Dodds Bounds, who died November 2, 1992.

He is survived by two daughters, Julia B. Moser and her husband, Gerald D. Moser of Chance, MD., and Sally J. Bounds of Salisbury, MD.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was retired from Wayne Pump/Dresser Industries and the City of Salisbury. He was a Charter Member of the local Peninsulaires Barbershop Group and a member of The Barbershop Harmony Society of America. He considered his fellow Barbershoppers to be part of his family. Norm enjoyed dinner out at Goin Nuts Café and Fratelli's Restaurant and had his favorite waitresses at each. He volunteered for a number of years at PRMC and looked forward to the days he could put a smile on someone else's face.

Norm loved to travel and was lucky enough to visit his favorite place, Alaska; he also looked forward to trips with his best friends - Pete, Dave, and Artie, to the National Barbershop Conventions where he would hear the best of the best of Barbershop singing. He was the best father and friend anyone could have; and he loved unconditionally. He loved his family and his country and was very patriotic. He was a sweet man to everyone and always wore a smile. We would like to thank his caregivers: Helen Cunningham, Joanne Phillips, and Christina Johnson; and most recently, Coastal Hospice, for their wonderful care and compassion of our father.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 2:00 PM, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 406 N. Division St., Salisbury, MD. Dr. Daniel Rich and Reverend George C. Godfrey will officiate. A reception will immediately follow at The Langeler Education Building of Wicomico Presbyterian Church, 225 N. Division St., Salisbury, MD, 21801. Norman, as well as his wife, Phyllis, had chosen to donate to the State Anatomy Board of Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Norman to Bethesda United Methodist Church, 406 N. Division St., Salisbury, MD, 21801; or Coastal Hospice, P. O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD, 21802.

Norm worked with my Dad at Dresser. He was the one that would lighten the mood when things got too tense engineering wise. Dad was always complimentary of Norm and his family. He and his family were always great friends to the Dubsky family.

Years ago I remember him as being one of the many Usher at Bethesda Church and I guess you could say he was the mentors who taught me to becoming one.
