Joan Tisinger Obituary
Delmar - Joan Louise Culver Tisinger passed away unexpectedly at her home in Delmar, March 8, 2021.
A life-long resident of Delmar, Maryland, Joan was born June 16, 1945, to the late Daniel Collins Culver and Aline E. Cannon Culver.
After graduation from Delmar High School, Joan went on to receive her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Salisbury in Salisbury, Maryland. She touched many lives in her work, first as legal assistant, then as teacher at Wor-Wic Community College, and later as teacher in the Wicomico County Detention Center. Joan also served for several years as Town Commissioner for the town of Delmar.
Joan is survived by her husband Darian, and her family: mother-in-law Mary Emma Tisinger; sisters-in-law Tara Tisinger and Lisa Bogetti (husband Travis); nephews Ethan, Eli and Anthony, and niece-in-law Xiaowei Bogetti; other extended family members; and her close friends Margaret Pennewell and Sylvia Nichols.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., at St. Stephen's Methodist Church in Delmar. COVID restrictions will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Humane Society in Joan's memory. Letters of condolence may be sent to www.HollowayFH.com.

Joan was our neighbor across the street. I hope her dog Shawn and all her many kitties are now in new homes where they can be loved. Our neighborhood will miss she and Darian. My husband is the one who found Joan that night. Such a shock and so very sad.

I can recall several shopping trips to Salisbury with Joan as a teenager when she first began to drive. Lots of fun back then. And I vividly recall she and her parents having us all over to their home for an after prom breakfast.
To both our surprise we actually lived one block from each other on Punjab Drive in Essex, MD and never knew it.
I am so glad now that we had lunch together 2 years ago at the Flaming Grill in Salisbury and caught up on all that had happened in our lives.
Joan was very intelligent and used her abilities and education in such positive ways. Rest In Peace my old friend!!!
