Patsy A. Hayward Blake Bateman

Salisbury-Patsy Ann Hayward Blake Bateman, 71, of here, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Blake and Addie L. Hayward, and adopted parents, Louise Harmon and the late Leonard Harmon, Sr.

Ms. Bateman was a member of Weeping Mary Full Gospel Baptist Church where she served as Trustee Emeritus, Kitchen Committee Leader, a member of the Scholarship Fund Committee, and former usher and choir member.

Prior to retiring, she was employed by the Wicomico County Board of Education as a Media Specialist at Chipman Elementary School.

In addition to her adopted mother, she will be lovingly remembered by: two daughters, Leona Wynter and Anita Bateman-Joynes (George); two sons, Franklin Bateman (Terena) and Patrick Bateman, Sr. (Maria); an adopted son, Maurice Butler (Maggie Joynes); two godchildren, Jean-Nate White and Tyrina Green; four sisters, Apostle Madonna P. Johnson, Phyllis Harmon, Ruth Harmon (Selby), and Elder Dr. Patricia Contee (William); mother-in-law, Margaret Sessoms; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Winder and Cynthia Creighton; a brother-in-law, Sidney Sessoms, Jr.; four sisters-in-Christ, Barbara Johnson, Min. Gloria Carrigan, Faith Fields, and Michelle Richardson; two longtime friends, Elwood Jenkins and Arthur "Joseph" Parker; 10 grandchildren, LaTosha Bateman, Kevin Lemore, Jr., LaTifáh Davis, Patrick Bateman, Jr., Khaden Bateman, James Brown, Alexander Bateman, Makennah Bateman, Blake Joynes, and Zephaniah Bateman; two great-grandchildren, Jenaya Lemore-Cuffee and Aubrey Lemore; five nieces, Sonya Sparrow (Carlos), Tamara Parsons (Kevin), Orbony Conaway, Linda Stephens (Joel), and Phyllicia Ennis; three nephews, Clifford Camphor (Tanya), Clifton Johnson, and Ken Goslee, Jr.; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, in-laws, and friends.

In addition to her parents and adopted father, she was also preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Mary Jean Camphor, and a brother, Leonard Harmon, Jr.

Ms. Bateman will lie in repose on Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at Weeping Mary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 31537 Shavox Road, Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park, Inc., West Road, Salisbury. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home, P.A. in Salisbury.
