C. Forsyth Obituary
Pittsford - December 21, 2020 at the age of 94.
Predeceased by his daughter, Virginia Forsyth. Survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Sarah Forsyth; children, Barbara (Michael Messner) Forsyth and Bruce Forsyth; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
Benn lived a life of action and service to the community and its people. Never content to sit, Benn was always involved. Whether it was being a volunteer fireman and eventually commissioner at the West Webster Fire Department, doing the behind the scenes work to bring the Rochester Area Community Foundation to life, or getting out on to the water he loved, to race a Sunfish or ride the winds over the horizon from Sodus Bay.
A Private Funeral Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Quad A for Kids, 500 East Ave., Rochester 14607, or Sally and Benn Forsyth Bridge Builder Award, c/o Roberts Wesleyan College, 2301 Westside Dr., Rochester 14624. My condolences to the family. My thoughts & prayers for peace and comfort are with you all. Ben was a great and honorable man. I worked in his courtroom as a teen (approx. 50 yrs. ago!). He taught me a lot - both about law and about life. His insight and concern for community helped bolster my decision to serve as a Commissioner in my own Fire District.
May he rest in God's eternal peace now & forever. Amen.

Benn must have been a wonderful husband and father. I didn't know him personally, but if his son Bruce is like him, he must have been an amazing man of courage and intestinal fortitude, compassionate and caring. This kind of person is one in a million. Condolences to all the family.
