I had Mr Jungs math class twice. He had a unique way of keeping control of his classes in an overwhelmingly male school (1972-76 for me). He knew certain martial arts moves and would be glad on the first day to "demonstrate" a simple hold. I remember seeing rather large fit young men crumble to the floor (in a friendly way of course!) with a simple hand hold. He never had problems in his class! I hope this brings a smile to both his family and those who had the good luck of being in his classes. RIP.

Dear Mrs Zefers Jung, Gisela (Briese) and I are so sorry to read about the passing of your husband. Although we never met him, it is apparent by all of the memories shared on this site that he was a wonderful man. Gisela and I have often thought of you over the years and I know you were Gisela's favorite teacher at Franklin (1961). She graduated with a degree in History from Brockport and taught at Gates Chile High School, before we moved to Ithaca. When I graduated from Cornell in 1969 with my PhD in Chemistry we moved to Delaware, where I worked for Dupont until I retired in 2007. We have 1 daughter Christine and a granddaughter Anastasia (13). We'd love to hear from you. Don and Gisela [email protected]

Mr. Jung was a great teacher and taught me how to persevere through geometry. I’ll always have those memories of him having patience with me and I’m sure I did not make it easy. My deepest sympathy to his family. Rest In Peace.

When I was in 8th grade I became quite sick and could not attend school for 3 months. Mr. Jung choose to tutor me at home, and not only taught me math, but was an inspiration to me at a time of considerable distress and uncertainty. I had the good fortune to be in his class for the next 2 years and have fond memories of his quick wit and generous spirt, coupled with his high expectations and low tolerance for BS. That was almost 60 years ago. Mr. Jung has left an indelible mark on my life, and I offer my deep condolences to his family---he was a great and good man.

Mr. Jung was my 10th grade math teacher and left a strong impression on me. His intellect and strengthen was always evident in our class. He had us eating out the palm of his hand with his wit. And when that didn’t work, his glare would. And his structure and discipline saved me more than once. But that’s a longer story. Most of all he committed to teaching us knuckleheads and for that I will be forever grateful. Rest In Peace Mr Jung.

I recal Mr Jung as a Great Teacher with his Puns and Jokes. A style of teaching which was needed to encourage impovershed students and familys. An asset to encourage education. Who was the roundest Knight at King Arthurs Table? Sir Cumfrance. My Father always told me not to look for Faults in Others... great man..terrible Geologist :) Blessings to Mr Jung family. May He Rest in Peace. Arthur James Heveron

One day, in casual conversation, Me. Jung mentioned that during the summer break he would be working on a project to measure Strontium-90 in the Great Barrier Reef. I was stunned by the realization that there existed a world where people could actually be interested in such things, be able to join far-flung collaborations to look into them and get paid to do it. It was a real eye opener for me. Might have been an auto mechanic but instead I just retired as a university professor and I credit Mr. Jung for opening my eyes to the wider possibilities. Thank you sir, you were the best.
