Newark: Susie Dey, 93 died peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2013 in her home. She was deeply loved by her family and friends. Susie was a devoted wife and mother.

Much of her young married life she worked side by side with her husband Clarence on the "Dey Farm" in Marion. The 22 years prior to her retirement she worked at Sarah Coventry in Newark.

Susie was born the daughter of the late Cornelia and Peter DeSeyn on October 4, 1920 in Williamson, NY. When she was only 6 years old her father died and she always said she was lovingly raised by her step-father Peter Havert.

Her husband, Clarence Dey, died in 1996. She is survived by her children: Dr. Suzanne Dey of CA, Carol Dey (David Diener) of CO and Gerald (Karen) Dey of NJ. She also leaves four grandsons, two step-grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The grandchildren are Dr. Gerald (Dr. Christy) Dey, Dr. Matthew (Dr. Judy) Dey, Chris (Lucy) Helder; Chad Helder, Kelsey (Tim) Bell and Tyson (Emily) Diener; sisters Jenny Pieters, Mag VandenBout and Anne Tameling. Susie was predeceased by a sister Joan Rice.

Susie was a woman of faith and attended the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church, 2057 East Palmyra-Port Gibson Road, where her Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

Any gifts in remembrance of Susie may be given to East Palmyra Christian Reformed church or the Christian School.
