SPRINGFIELD - Eugene "Gene" Ervin Hayes, 88, passed away June 4, 2024 in Springfield, OR.
Gene was born November 28, 1935 in Lebanon, OR. He married the love of his life, Mildred "Millie" Elizabeth Van den Bos in July of 1957. Together, they raised three kids, Pamela Hewitt, Timothy Hayes, and Michael Hayes, on their grass seed farm in Lebanon.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Millie, parents Ervin and Evelyn (Smith) Hayes, and brother, Bobbie Hayes.
Gene is survived by his children and their spouses; Pamela (Greg) Hewitt, Michael (Darla) Hayes, and Tim Hayes. Grandchildren; Thomas, Rachael, Derek, Nicholas, Brian and Kenny.
Gene never met a stranger, Gene loved to meet new people and was always up for an adventure. Gene had a strong relationship with his God and was at peace when he left this Earth to be with his Millie.
A graveside service will be held for Gene at 11:00am, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Rock Hill Cemetery. The family will be having a reception after the service at the farm, for anyone that wishes to come and visit. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
