Lee Lemons Obituary

Lee Ann Lemons

It is with great sadness that the family of Lee Ann Lemons announces her passing on December 2, 2018 at the age of 51. Lee Ann will be forever remembered by her mother, Patti (Lemons) Atkins; her brother, Blake Lemons; her sister, Julie (Lemons) Costa; her nephew, Hank Lemons and her nieces, Emily Lemons, Avery Slifer and Kendall Slifer. She will also be lovingly remembered by her Aunt, Ann Thomas and her cousins, Scott Bomer, Katie Blue and Annslee Taylor; along with countless friends. Lee Ann was predeceased by her father, Roy Lemons.

Lee Ann was a 1985 graduate of Sanger High School and received her Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University. After graduation, Lee Ann moved to Huntington Beach, California where she worked at the Anaheim Marriott. She then transferred to Chicago, Illinois and worked for the Michigan Avenue Marriott and Coopers & Lybrand for several years. While in Chicago, she enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Bulls throughout their championship 6-peat and attending Chicago Cubs baseball games at Wrigley Field with her many friends.

In 1997, Lee Ann moved back to Texas and became the Co-Owner/President of Lemons Publications in Sanger with her brother Blake. Lee Ann was very active in the Krum, Denton and Sanger business communities and was committed to the Sanger News, Krum News and Denton Business weekly newspapers for two decades.

Lee Ann was extremely passionate about youth sports and was a beloved Aunt Lee Lee not only to her nieces and nephew, but also to their friends. Many seniors and juniors at Sanger High School grew up with Lee Ann cheering them on during football, basketball and volleyball games. She often would bring the kids lunch on school days and spent time on the lake with them during the summers.

She will be forever remembered as a generous, tender-hearted and determined woman who always put others before herself.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sanger, Texas with Pastor Grant Bowles officiating.

As Lee Ann was an avid animal lover, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center in lieu of flowers. The Center is located at 317 North Elm, Denton, TX, 76207 and phone number is 940-349-7594 donations can be made in memorial at https://dentonasf.networkforgood.com.

There are several fun and kind memories i have of Lee Ann. The first is, she took my sister and i to see flash gordon. We had the day off from school mom was working for the paper. She was funny, generous with her time to a middle schooler.

Another, i was so impressed by her career when i was in college. She was a roll model, although she never new it.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I adore Lee Ann. She was a giver! I will never forget when I did relief work for the Moore Tornadoes, Lee Ann felt touched by one of our recipients of assistance and asked that on my next trip, I take $300 cash to the man. It took me several hours to locate him as he lost his home, and was deaf and mute. But finally I was able to do so and it was my favorite memory of the entire relief effort. Lee Ann, you were one of my biggest cheerleaders in my career and in life. I so appreciate and love you and your friendship! Rest in Peace my sweet friend!
