Patsy Currin Obituary

Patsy Louise Currin

Patsy Louise Currin, 85, of Denton died on Friday, June 18th at Good Samaritan Village in Denton, Texas. She was born May 13th, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri to G.W. and Eloise Tompkins. As a child she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and then to Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, David Currin in 1956 and joined him at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She and David had four children. She attended New River College in Radford, Virginia studying nursing when her youngest started first grade. She and David lived in Texas, Georgia, Germany, Virginia many times, Oklahoma twice, and Maryland while he served as an officer in the U.S. Army, returning to Texas in 1978 to start civilian life. Pat's career as a nurse led her to work in various hospitals and doctor's offices throughout the country and Dallas, retiring in 1996. She was also a Mary Kay consultant for many years.

Pat lived an active and service-oriented life. She was a member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls in her youth serving in leadership positions locally and at the state level, and later as an adult advisor. She was active in the Methodist church (The Seekers class, wedding coordinating, and the Stephen Ministries). She and David spent years square dancing, traveling, and visiting family and friends all over the country and world. They were bitten by the RV bug in the mid-seventies when they bought their first motorhome, and after retiring they traveled North America for six years living full-time as RVers. Throughout her life, she never met a person she did not want to have a conversation with, no matter the time or place.

She is survived by her sister Dolores Hoffman of Tulsa, OK; son, Michael and partner, Kristine Currin of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Ann King of Salt Lake City, UT; son, Ken and wife Carey Currin of Denton, TX; daughter, Kay Currin and partner Julie Martinez of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Elijah King, Ben Currin, Rachel King, Luther Currin, Samuel Currin, Jackson Currin, and Sophie Currin; great grandchildren, Ty Peveto-Currin, Virginia Currin, Jack Currin, and Malia King, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Currin; brother, Tommy Tompkins; sister-in-law Mary Ann Tompkins; brother in-law, Elden Hoffman.

There will be a funeral service June 26, 2021, at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton.
