Bette Smaldone Obituary

Bette (Taylor) Smaldone, beloved Mother and cherished friend, danced into the presence of the Lord on Friday, March 7th, 2008. Bette was born on May 23, 1926, in Ansley, Nebraska. She married Robert Smaldone in 1952, and follows him in death. They are survived by: Nicki Marie Smaldone, and Patrick Reyner Smaldone and his wife Susan, of Denver. The odds of the Rockies winning the World Series this season improved significantly with Bette's arrival in heaven! There will be a Rosary at 9:30 am and Mass at 10 am Wednesday March 12th at Holy Name Catholic Church, 3290 West Milan Avenue, in Denver's Sheridan neighborhood. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 12801 W. 44th Avenue, in Wheatridge. The family will host a reception at the church following the interment. Bette's strong faith, and positive caring spirit will always be treasured. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Arthritis Foundation or the Denver Teachers' Club.

Dear Nicki & Pat,

My name is Charlean Smith Schubert and I lived across the street from your Mom & grandparents at 4545 Raleigh St. Bev Wilson Gordon, my brother Clint (Butch) Smith were all buddies.

You Mom was a delight and pure sunshine with her smile. I wanted you
to know that your Mom lent me her beautifull satin wedding dress so I could be married on June 9, 1956, in Denver. Your Mom's kindness was like a miracle to me and my Mom, Myrtle Smith, as we could not afford a dress. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this sad time. God bless you all.

Pat & Nicki,
What a wonderful Inspiration Bette was for all that knew her.
You do not know me but I have known your Mom since she was a beautiful young lady and before she married.
She lived with her parents on Raleigh St. across the street from the Wilsons(Margaret,Orval,Beverly,Steve) they were part of my family. Beverly and I grew up together like sisters and when I would go over to her house she and I would often go over and talk with Bette. I have many memories of her and your grandparents.
She was always such a strong, sweet, loving person and how fortunate you were to have her as your Mother.
She will be missed not only by you her family but by all who knew and also loved her.
God bless you all.

Dear Pat, Sue, & Nicki,
It has been many years since I last saw Bette. My Aunt attends Holly Name and has kept me up-to-date with the Smaldone family over the years. Your Mom was a wonderful, happy, positive, vivacious, caring woman. I have thought of her often over the past 20 some years. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Bette sounds like a truly special lady! I'll let my Mom know that another Rockies' fan is where she can make a real difference with her support. Sounds as thought Mom and Bette share the kindred spirit of undying support of their Beloved Rockies!! Wishing you the peace, comfort, and smiles of treasured memories,

March 12, 2008

Please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of your mother on behalf of my mother, Marian Osieczanek. She considered Bette one of her dearest friends at Holy Name Church and spoke all the time about what a positive, wonderful lady she was! My mom is still in a rehab facility following a stroke she recently suffered, and was heartbroken by the news of Bette's passing. She was upset, too, that she could not attend her funeral today. Please know you've been in our thoughts and prayers since we first received the terrible news. We truly hope that precious memories of her will help ease your pain during this time of sorrow and loss.

Lovingly, The Osieczanek Family

We gals managed to get her safetly down the stairs and back up. She was special to all the knew her. May you carried on her legacy. Grenda and Larry Lutgen
