C. Lechler Obituary

Ray Lechler cherished his family. He was a loving father, devoted husband, and adored grandfather. Ray spent Friday evening with his granddaughter, Lauren, at the Father/ Daughter Dance and enjoyed one of his best rounds of golf on Saturday. This would be considered one of his ideal weekends. Ray passed away at the age of 61 on Sunday. He was an active member and volunteer at Cherry Hills Country Club where his contagious smile and warm greetings made him one of the most popular members, not to mention, in Green Oaks, where he and his wife, Pat, of 39 years, have lived since 1980. A successful oilman, who focused on marketing, purchasing and trading, Ray was a Director for the Rocky Mountain Region for Plains Marketing, L.P., which is one of the largest midstream crude oil companies in North America headquartered in Houston, TX. He began his career with Atlantic Richfield and was a past President of the Petroleum Club. Ray served on the Board of Directors for IPAMS, PowerKure Corporation and the Prostate Cancer Educational Council. Ray received his BA from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and his MBA from the University of Texas, Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. He was a lieutenant in the US Army and was a Tank Company Commander. To commemorate Ray's life, a service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, where he was an active member, TODAY, Wednesday, July 26th at 10:30am. A reception will follow at Cherry Hills Country Club. Ray is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter Dawn and son-in-law Ben Paulson with their three children Lauren, Jacob and Morgan; son, David and daughter-in-law Wendi; mother Mrs. L. Raymond Lechler; sisters Nancy Robertson and Karen Favinger. Pat and children are proud to say the Ray is an organ donor. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Ray Lechler.

Ray and I grew up together from Kindergarten at Edgeboro Elementary through Liberty High. I last saw him at our 40th LHS reunion and it was as if I had just seen him the day before. His smile and good humor will be badly missed by all who were privileged to have known him. My sympathies and prayers to his family in this sad hour.

Cece and I are deeply saddened to learn of Ray's sudden passing. Ray was a fraternity brother and classmate at Muhlenberg College more that 40 years ago and also a friend. His ever present smile and enthusiasm for life were truly inspiring. I am grateful that we had the opportunity to renew our friendship at the last two reunions. Our most sincere condolences go out to Pat and the rest of the Lechler family. Ray's cheerful and energetic personality will be missed by his many oil industry colleagues. I'll always remember our many business dealings as well as our adventures on the golf course and ski slopes.

Ray was one of my best friends at Muhlenberg College more than 40 years ago. His mischievous wit and gregarious nature, dictated that the party didn't start until he arrived. Upon re-acquainting over the phone two years ago, the first thing Ray mentioned was his family and enduring love of his wife Pat. I and the fraternity brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha were blessed that we could re-new our friendships these past two years during our annual reunion. Seeing Ray for the first time last year, immediately brought back all the fond memories of our college days. His winning smile and laugh had lost none of its enthusiasm. His death leaves us all running on empty.

Ray was one of those one of those people you meet with an electric smile! I met Ray through Refinery folks at TOTAL Petroleum where I worked for ten years. I had since run into him different places around Denver - and his up beat attitutde never ceased to amaze me. He will be missed by all of his friends in the oil industry. My heart felt sympathy to all the members of his family....

We are shocked and saddened to hear about this news. Six weeks ago, we enjoyed seeing and talking to Ray at the Muhlenberg and Lambda Chi reunion.

Throughout the years, Ray has been a strong supporter of the college and the fraternity. He will be sorely missed by his classmates and fraternity brothers. Our sympathy to all of his friends and especially to you Pat and all of the Lechler family.

Ray was one of the most out-going, personable individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing in my life and in the oil industry. He always had a broad smile on his face and you would consider yourself lucky if you got a word in edgewise during a conversation. He will be missed by all.
