Joan Bristol Obituary
08/24/1932 - 10/08/2021
BRISTOL-Joan Hoxie, 89, died peacefully on October 8, 2021. Born August 24, 1932 in New York City to John A. Hoxie and Marion Ratcliffe Hoxie, Joan was predeceased by her brother, John W. Hoxie. A graduate of Briarcliff High School, she received a BA from Vassar College, and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Joan became president of the Summit (NJ) Child Care Center in 1970 where she proudly led the effort to build a model day care center. Moving to Denver in 1980, Joan consulted with S&L banks and later founded her own investment advisor firm. She was active as a volunteer board member including as president of the Junior League of Summit (NJ), secretary to the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI), president of the Denver Rotary Club, and president of SafeHouse Denver. Joan was a devoted alumna to Vassar College. She treasured reunions with her Vassar roommates and annual trips with the "Evens," board members who served with her at the AJLI. She is survived by five sons Theodore, Robert, David, Steven, and James with her former husband, Michal W. Bristol, and eight grandchildren. Donations can be made to the Vassar College Class of 1954 Scholarship Fund or SafeHouse Denver.
