We appreciated getting to know John through Abe & Kimberly's wedding and a few all family gatherings. We all benefit from him through his work on Johnsons' Tunnel and in the facilities at CU while 2 of our sons studied there. We most appreciated his heart for God and his character as reflected in his son Abe.

May God grant grace and peace to the Laydon family. Please know that John was always helpful, friendly and kind. He was respected and loved by many in the CU community. I worked with John until my retirement in late 2018. John’s work space was next to mine, which gave me the opportunity to get to know him. We had many conversations, including how to roast and peel hot peppers without burning your hands. Since I had already done that, I am glad he taught me the correct technique! Thanks John. But, what I remember most about John was the way he loved his family and how his eyes lit up when he talked about them. John, you will be missed. See you in Paradise!

John was a very kind loving gentleman who gave joy to those he met. That smile shined all the time. I don’t think I ever seen him angry. Always teaching Abe and Luke to reach for the stars, encouraging every step of the way. You will be missed very much as always. Love you and your family very much. Thinking of you all very often.
