Lucille Hendershott Obituary


HENDERSHOTT, LUCILLE EVELYN 83, Born June 15, 1923 in Walworth, WI and passed away March 8, 2007 in Aurora, CO. Preceded in death by granddaughter Eve Marie Major. Survived by husband of 53 years Don; daughter and son-in-law Anne and Mark Hermanson with children Ira and Peder; daughter and son-in-law Alice and Kent Major with children David, Thomas, Kassie, Samantha, Cameron, Emma and Zoe. Retired teacher for Denver and Aurora Public Schools and the Emily Griffith Opportunity School. Graduate of Univ. of Wisconsin with Masters in Interior Design. WWII Veteran (WAVES) - honors: American Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal and Navy Unit Ribbon. Volunteer work: various Parkview Congregational Church activities, and instrumental in starting the Morning Star Senior Day program when she saw critical need for respite care of aging people. Favorite place in Aurora: She enjoyed the Fox Arts Center because of its many interesting programs. Hobbies: painting, sewing, reading, visiting Denver natural history and art museums. Memorial Service 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Parkview Congregational Church, 12444 Parkview Dr., Aurora. Inurnment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.

My greatest sympathy for Uncle Don, alice , Anne and their families. Aunt Sis was a very special lady in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. My memories of Aunt Sis are so happy and warm. I love you and sorry we can't see each other more.

Lucille made a wonderful contribution to the community in her passion and forward thinking when she helped to start Morning Star Adult Day program. Whenever I say the name "Morning Star" I think of Lucille who gave us the image and words to describe her vision.
