David Wilde Obituary

1956 ~ 2015
Salt Lake City, UT-David Alan Wilde, age 59, died September 11, 2015, of complications from prostate cancer.
I was born March 21, 1956, the youngest child of Herschel and Verna Wilde. They were wonderful parents. I had five siblings: Calvin (Wilma), Coy Love, Jean Lance (Lee), Bernell (Claudia) and Chris Egbert (Rick). I love them all, and all my family. I've always been grateful for a special family heritage.
I grew up in a great neighborhood in Murray, Utah. Murray to me was Mayberry, and I was Opie Taylor. I had good neighbors, friends, and teachers, and I appreciate so many who have been positive influences in my life.
I was taught and have always believed in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and in living prophets and apostles. I've been blessed to feel the peace and comfort of the Spirit all my life, giving me a sure knowledge that Christ is my Savior, and that God knows and loves me.
I married my wife, Linda, in 1978, after returning from a mission to Florida. I love you, Linda. I always will. Thank you for helping me grow and learn. Thank you for our four children, Nate (Alesa), Aaron (Lyndsie), April Despain (Tony), and Nicole, all of whom I love more than I can say. And I really, really, love our grandchildren, Kayla, Brighton, Eli, Brooklyn and Grace. They are so sweet and special. I look forward to eternal family relations, and will be eagerly waiting at the veil for each of you with open arms.
Thanks to those with whom I have worked, particularly for the kindness and friendship of Sim Gill and others at the District Attorney's Office. As far as life's accomplishments, I would only say that I have tried to be a good person, to help others, and to make positive contributions when I could. I'm grateful for those opportunities and for the many learning experiences I have had during my life.
Thanks to everyone who has been a friend, especially to those who have helped, prayed or expressed concerns for me and my family during this illness. Prayers and kind words have meant so much. I have prayed that God would find a way to reward all who have been so kind.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15th at the Murray 12th Ward, at 363 East Vine Street, Murray with a viewing from 10:45-11:45 a.m. There will be a viewing the prior evening, Monday, September 14th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary at 4760 S State Street, Murray. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.

Dear Linda and family. I am so saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I wish I would have known so that I could have paid my respects to you and your family and also Dave. I worked with him for many years and got to know this special man very well. I loved him like a dear friend. I cannot express my feelings of how sorry I am that he passed so young. He was indeed a great man. He is, I am positive in the spirit world now, with no more sickness or pain. I love you Linda, you are so sweet and kind and such a lovely lady and companion for Dave. May our Heavenly Father be with you throughout this time of mourning and hereafter always. My love to you and yours. Sincerely, Brenda Butterfield

Dear Wilde Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember having a conversation with David 18 months ago about my mom's passing and he told me how concerned he was for his kids and hoped they would be able to find peace.

I also lost my mom on Sept 11, so know I will continue to mourn with you each and every year as that anniversary date passes.

May you find comfort and peace through your knowledge of the gospel and God's plan, as well as through the many prayers on your behalf.

David is a wonderful man and it was an honor to serve the last year of his county council term. He was a great mentor and good example to me.

Thank you Brother Wilde for being there for me 9 years ago, when I could have made the worst mistake of my life. I have faith in our Heavenly Father, and prayer. I appreciate you being a kind soul, that reached out to me and talked to the young 20 year old in me. We will forever be grateful, and you will see all of your wonderful family members beyond the veil one day. I love your family, and may you rest in peace!

Dear Wilde Family,
I had the opportunity to know David both at the County and at church. He was so supportive of me and my family when I went through 2 serious health issues. I always appreciated his kindness and concern for me. In your time of mourning, I hope you will feel the love and support of those of us that were the beneficiaries of his kindnesses.

We extend our sincere condolences at David's passing. I had the privilege of working with David in his capacity as a member of the Salt Lake County Council. He was committed to the principle of true public service and was dedicated to the people he represented. Dear Linda and Family. I was much saddened to learn of the passing your husband and father. Since Dave first ran for SL County Council, when I first became acquainted with him, I have respected and admired him as a representative of the people. He was a fine man and we are all going to miss him. Please accept my heart felt condolences.

Linda and children, I feel like I have been on the sidelines cheering you on. Your husband and father was the kindest, gentlest, and most accepting man I have ever known. You have my sincere condolences. Linda, I am here when you need me.

I grew up with Dave in Murray "Mayberry" and share his fondness of the ideal town and neighborhood. We have remained friends over the years, and I truly cherish the memories of our friendship, basketball games, and even the political sparring. Dave is a great friend, and truly supported the Boys & Girls Club. I appreciate his support of the kids of Salt Lake County while he was on the County Council. I will truly miss him.
Krista enjoyed the opportunity of getting to know Dave, working jointly with him on issues concerning Murray and the County when she was on the Murray City Council and he on the County Council. He was great to work with for members of both parties, to the benefit of the residents of the county.
We offer our sincere condolences to Linda and the entire Wilde family.
