Ivy Woolley

Ivy Woolley 1905 ~ 2003  Ivy Woolley, wife of the late Calvin R. Woolley, died June 13, 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She was born September 10, 1905 in Syracuse, Utah. She was the daughter of Daniel H. and Minnie Baird Walker. She was married to Calvin R. Woolley in the Salt Lake Temple on November 30, 1927. Together they served a mission to the California San Diego Visitor's Center from July 8, 1980 to December 1, 1981. She graduated from Syracuse Elementary School, North Davis High School and the LDS Business College. She was employed by the Salt Lake City School District where she worked as Rosslyn Heights Elementary School Secretary for 18 years. She was both Vice President and President of the Salt Lake City Educational Secretaries Association. She and her husband were very active in the Sugar House Lion's Club. She served as President, Vice President, Secretary and Program Chairman for the Sugar House Lady Lions. She held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a Primary, Young Women, and Sunday School teacher. She served as counselor in the Relief Society. Ivy was an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 12 years. She and Cal worked as sponsors for a young adult social dance group for 12 years. It was the privilege of Cal and Ivy to travel extensively. Their journeys took them to many historical sites in the United States, to four different continents and numerous islands. These places were frequently visited on more than one occasion. They enjoyed the company of many friends with whom they associated for decades. Many of their friends joined them in their travels. She was an active participant in numerous clubs. Ivy loved picnics and Christmas. She was an excellent seamstress and talented in handicrafts. She started getting ready for Christmas in January and delighted family and friends with gifts she had made. She continued the tradition of having all of her family to her home for Christmas dinner which she had prepared until she was 96 years old. She is survived by a brother, Frank Walker, children, Dee R. Woolley (Carol) and James W. Woolley (Jeanette) of Salt Lake City; and Jay C. Woolley (Barbara) of Palm Springs, California. She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. In an unusual turn of events, her daughter Lou Jean W. Jensen of Concord, California, passed away earlier that same day. We are certain that mother and daughter had a sweet reunion. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin R. Woolley; a daughter, Sue Woolley; and sisters, May Andrus, Verna Jones, Nora Gunderson, Ruth Linford; and brothers, Ralph Walker and Myron B. Walker. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S., beginning at 12 noon. Friends may visit Saturday at the mortuary from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the Centerville City Cemetery.
